Union PumpkinFest Catapults

October is a fun time in Union. The pumpkin catapults is  just one of the events that is held at this time. We will also be having our famous Halloween Village right here at Robin Hood Village Resort on Sunday October 28th. Trick or Treating and a children's costume contest. Come join us and the community for some spooky fun !

Fall and Winter Specials starting October 1, 2012

Beginning in October our popular weekend special is available for all our cottages. Friday through Sunday  your second and/or third night is half price the regular room rate.  Starting October 15, 2012 our mid week special begins Monday through Thursday Cottages 1,2,7 and 8 will be 110.00 per night, a savings of $50.00  to $65.00 a night. We have chosen our forest side cottages with hot tubs for your enjoyment. Rain or shine our guests can enjoy their private, covered hot tubs and warm fireplaces inside their rooms. Not interested in a hot tub - no problem - we have also reduced our rates for Cottages 5 and 6 to $99.00 per night all week long, a $35.00 savings per night and with half off the second night for $49.50 this is an extra special deal all the way around !

We love the details in our cottages, the little things make them warm and cozy. Small touches give the cottages a special feel because our guests are special ! We have warm throws on our couches, along with complimentary coffee, tea, hot cocoa, popcorn,sugar and creamer. Birds are in all our cottages and an abundance of lavender is spread throughout our landscaping. Home away from home is our goal. These photos are from Cottage 1. It is also a favorite through out the years as a small "Honeymoon" cottage, very romantic.

Our water front grounds are available to our guests. We have two fire pits and group seating for enjoying the view of the lights on the water after a busy day exploring this beautiful area. We also have free for our guests on warm sunny days a two man and one man kayak along with a paddle boat. They are available until the weather becomes stormy and the water cold. Come and have some fun at the resort this Summer. If you can't make it this Summer be sure and come this Fall when our specials start on October 1st.

After some traveling through the western areas of the country we arrived back at Robin Hood Village Resort  and I love sharing some photos of the grounds behind a few of our cottages here. It's really a special treat to walk the paths and follow the creek as it gurgles under the little bridge. I know where the Great Blue Heron has his nest and watch for the Belted Kingfisher as he makes his noisy rattle cry across the tops of the trees on his way to his favorite fishing spot on the canal. I will  always enjoy the beauty of this special spot. Cottage 7 and 8  have their own fire pits and  look out on the views of the forest. This is a great place to escape to rain or shine !

The day is overcast and cool but I was struck by the orange lilies that are in full bloom that sweep across the landscaping in front of the cottages. A real attention to detail is brought to our landscaping providing small and delightful places to sit outside your cottage or gaze from your hot tub. Lots of sunny days ahead to enjoy this peaceful retreat and all that the Hood Canal offers.

Here is a special spot on the Resort. I remember when the pond was created about 5 years ago. The landscaping has grown and is a great private screen but still allows for viewing of the passing clouds and beautiful trees surrounding the Resort. It is located in front of Cottage 5 which is a guest favorite.

Now that the weather is warming up and we are officially in Summer it's hiking time! Our guests at Robin Hood Village Resort always ask where the local hikes are and we have a great brochure for some close by hikes with various degrees of difficulty and they all have their own breathtaking beauty. Featuring Cottage 1

Cottage 1 is one of the last two remaining cottages originally built in 1934. We sometimes call it the "Blue Glass Cottage" since we have filled a big window with blue glass. A little history on the beginnings of Robin Hood Village Resort. It began with a dream of an artist named Don Beckman. Don happened to have helped build a Hollywood set for the original movie " Adventures of Robin Hood" staring Errol Flynn. When he visited the Hood Canal in the 1930's, it was easy for him to visualize this quaint little village in the woods. Here on this forested property with a salmon bearing creek nestled in the trees and surrounded by snow capped mountains, Don built 5 little cottages. We have been visiting the Mason County Historical Society this week and hope to find some pictures dating back to this time that we can share.

Today, almost 80 years later it's fun to think about all the thousands who have found their way to this spot!
